First Reading - Genesis 1:1-19
Gospel - Mark 6:53-56
But creation was not just an event in the past—it is an ongoing reality. God continues to bring order, healing, and renewal into our world and into our lives. The Gospel today gives us a beautiful image of this. Wherever Jesus goes, people recognize Him. They rush to bring their sick, laying them in marketplaces, hoping that even the touch of His garment would bring healing. Just as God’s word in Genesis had the power to create and transform, the presence of Jesus has the power to heal and restore.
These two readings remind us that God is not distant. The same God who brought light into the world in Genesis now brings light into our lives through Jesus. Just as He created beauty and order out of nothing, He can bring hope into our darkness, healing into our brokenness, and peace into our chaos.
But there is also a challenge for us. The people in the Gospel did not sit back and wait for healing to come to them. They actively sought out Jesus. They ran to Him, carrying their loved ones, reaching out in faith. Their trust in Jesus made them willing to go wherever He was.
Today, we are invited to do the same. Do we truly seek Jesus with faith, believing in His power to heal and transform us? Do we allow Him to bring order and light into the areas of our lives that feel dark and empty? Just as creation was not random but carefully planned, our lives are not accidents. God has a purpose for each of us.
Let us bring to Him whatever feels broken, tired, or lost. Let us trust that His presence can restore us, just as He created the world in the beginning. And as we experience His healing and love, may we, like the people in the Gospel, lead others to Him so that they too may encounter His life-giving power.
