First Reading - 1 Timothy 6:2-12

Gospel - Luke 8:1-3

Every one of us is searching for what makes life meaningful. Some chase wealth, others power, others recognition — yet today’s readings remind us that true life, true richness, is found in God alone. They call us to pursue not passing treasures but the lasting gift of eternal life, and to live as faithful disciples who walk with Christ.

In the first reading, Paul warns Timothy against the dangers of greed and the love of money. He reminds us that we bring nothing into this world and we take nothing out of it. Wealth and possessions can so easily enslave the heart, leading to jealousy, pride, or ruin. Instead, Paul urges Timothy — and us — to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. These are the true riches of a Christian, the treasures that last beyond this life. To “fight the good fight of faith” is to keep our eyes fixed on eternal life and not be distracted by the illusions of the world.

The Gospel shows us what this fight of faith looks like in daily life. Jesus, traveling from town to town proclaiming the Good News, is accompanied by the Twelve and by women who had been healed and transformed by Him. These women, once broken or cast aside, now walk with Christ, serving Him with gratitude and love. Their discipleship shows us that following Jesus is not about social position or wealth but about hearts set free and devoted to Him.

Dear friends, the true richness of life is not measured by possessions but by our closeness to Christ and our willingness to serve Him with love. When we let go of greed and selfishness, we make space for the treasures of faith, hope, and love to grow within us.

So let us ask ourselves: What am I really pursuing in life — temporary gain or eternal life? Do I live with gratitude, humility, and generosity, offering my life in service to Christ?

May we, like the early disciples, walk closely with Jesus, letting His word and love be our treasure, and may we fight the good fight of faith until we share fully in the riches of eternal life.
