First Reading - Colossians 1:21-23

Gospel - Luke 6:1-5

One of the deepest desires of the human heart is peace — peace with ourselves, peace with others, and peace with God. Yet so often, our sins, our mistakes, and even our rigid ways of thinking rob us of that peace. Today’s readings remind us where true peace is found: in Christ alone.

In the first reading, Paul speaks of how we were once estranged, far from God because of sin. But now, through Christ’s death and resurrection, we have been reconciled. He has made peace for us, not by our efforts, but by His sacrifice on the cross. This reconciliation is not just a past event — it is a daily invitation to remain steady in faith, rooted in hope, and grounded in love.

The Gospel brings this truth into a concrete moment. The Pharisees, focused on the letter of the law, accuse the disciples of breaking the Sabbath by plucking grain. But Jesus reveals a deeper truth: He is Lord of the Sabbath. The Sabbath is not about burden but about freedom, not about restriction but about life. The One who reconciles all things reminds us that God’s law is always ordered to mercy, to life, to love.

Dear friends, Christ alone is our peace, and when He is at the center, we are freed from living in fear or in rigid legalism. He teaches us that faith is not about cold rule-keeping but about living in communion with Him, the Lord of life.

So let us ask ourselves: Do I live my faith as a burden or as a gift? Do I cling to rules without mercy, or do I allow Christ to fill the law with love? True holiness is not about appearances but about a heart reconciled with God.

May the Lord of the Sabbath, who has made peace by His cross, grant us the grace to live each day in the freedom and joy of His love. For when He dwells within us, our lives become a living Sabbath, a resting place of God’s presence in the world.
