First Reading - 1 Timothy 3:1-13

Gospel - Luke 7:11-17

Every human life is precious in the eyes of God, and today’s readings remind us that God not only calls us to serve but also reveals His deep compassion for His people. Together, they invite us to reflect on how we live out our vocation — whether in leadership, in family, or in daily life — and how we allow Christ’s love to shine through us.
In the first reading, Paul outlines the qualities of those called to serve as leaders in the Church. He emphasizes integrity, faithfulness, self-control, and a spirit of service. True leadership in the Christian sense is never about power or prestige but about responsibility and witness. Whether as bishops, deacons, or in our own vocations, we are all called to live lives that inspire others to see Christ in us.
The Gospel gives us the perfect image of Christ’s leadership: compassion in action. At Nain, Jesus meets a grieving widow who has lost her only son. With deep tenderness, He approaches her, consoles her, and restores her son to life. This act shows us that true authority comes from love, and true greatness is revealed in compassion. Jesus does not remain distant from human suffering — He enters into it and transforms it.
Dear friends, Christian life and leadership must be rooted in compassion and service. It is not enough to hold a position or a title; what matters is how we reflect Christ’s love in the way we treat others, especially the vulnerable and broken.
Let us then ask ourselves: In my daily life, do I live with integrity and compassion? Do I use the gifts and responsibilities God has given me to build others up and bring them closer to Christ?
May we learn from the Lord who leads with mercy and who restores life where there is sorrow. And may we, in our own vocations, become instruments of His love, bringing hope, healing, and encouragement to those around us.
