First Reading - 1 Timothy 3:14-16
Gospel - Luke 7:31-35
In the first reading, Paul speaks of the Church as the household of God, the pillar and foundation of truth. At the center of this truth is the mystery of Christ: God made visible in the flesh, revealed in the Spirit, proclaimed among the nations, and believed throughout the world. Our faith is not just an idea or a philosophy; it is a living encounter with the person of Jesus Christ, who unites heaven and earth.
The Gospel shows how people responded to this mystery with resistance. Jesus compares His generation to children who refuse to join in either joy or mourning. John the Baptist was criticized for being too austere, and Jesus Himself was rejected for being too merciful and close to sinners. Their hearts were closed because God’s ways did not match their expectations. Yet, as Jesus says, “Wisdom is vindicated by all her children” — meaning that the truth of God is proven in the lives of those who embrace it.
Dear friends, God’s wisdom often challenges our ideas, but those who open their hearts to Christ will see His truth bear fruit in their lives. The question is not whether God speaks, but whether we are ready to listen and respond with faith.
Let us ask ourselves: Am I open to God’s wisdom even when it unsettles my plans or challenges my comfort? Do I recognize Christ as the foundation of my life and the heart of my faith?
May we learn to trust the wisdom of God, to welcome Christ with open hearts, and to let our lives give witness to the truth of His love before the world.
