First Reading - Colossians 2:6-15

Gospel - Luke 6:12-19

Life often presents us with moments of uncertainty, challenges, and decisions that seem beyond our strength. In such moments, we instinctively seek guidance, direction, and a firm foundation on which to stand. Today’s readings call us to recognize that our true strength, guidance, and stability are found in Christ, and that a life rooted in Him bears lasting fruit.

In the first reading, Paul reminds the Colossians that they have received Christ Jesus as Lord. To live in Him is to be deeply rooted and built up in faith, strengthened in every way, and overflowing with thankfulness. Through His death and resurrection, Christ has freed us from every bond of sin and reconciled us to God. This is not a one-time gift but a continual invitation to remain steadfast, allowing Christ to shape our hearts, decisions, and actions.

The Gospel illustrates this principle in action. Before choosing His twelve disciples, Jesus spends the night in prayer, seeking the Father’s guidance. From this communion, He calls and sends them to teach, heal, and proclaim the Kingdom of God. Jesus shows us that effective service and authentic discipleship flow from a heart attuned to God’s will, rooted in prayer and strengthened by faith.

Dear friends, to live fruitfully in Christ, we must be rooted in Him and guided by prayer. Only then can our actions reflect His love, our decisions align with His will, and our lives bear witness to His Kingdom.

May we, like the disciples, remain rooted in Christ, draw strength from prayer, and allow His Spirit to guide our every step, so that our lives become instruments of His healing, hope, and grace in the world.
