First Reading - Colossians 3:12-17
Gospel - Luke 6:27-38
In the first reading, Paul calls the Colossians to clothe themselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. He urges them to forgive one another as the Lord has forgiven them and to let Christ’s peace and Word dwell richly within their hearts. Love is not optional; it is the very fabric of the Christian life. When we allow Christ’s Word to guide us, our relationships and actions become channels of His grace.
The Gospel intensifies this call. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies, to bless those who curse us, to do good to those who hate us, and to lend without expecting anything in return. He invites us to be merciful, just as our Father is merciful, and warns that the measure we use will be the measure we receive. This is radical love — a love that transforms hearts, breaks cycles of vengeance, and reflects the Kingdom of God here on earth.
Dear friends, Christian life is a call to active, self-giving love. It challenges us to rise above resentment, fear, and self-interest, and to live with hearts that forgive, bless, and serve. True discipleship is measured not by what we receive but by what we freely give in imitation of Christ.
Let us ask ourselves: Do my words and actions reflect the mercy of God? Do I forgive, bless, and serve as Christ has taught me? May the Lord strengthen us to clothe ourselves with His love, so that our lives become living signs of His mercy, peace, and grace in the world.
