💖 HOMILY - SEPTEMBER 12 💖

First Reading - 1 Timothy 1:1-2,12-14

Gospel - Luke 6:39-42

Life is full of guidance, teaching, and correction, yet we often struggle to see clearly — both in our own lives and in the lives of others. Today’s readings invite us to reflect on the need for humility, discernment, and the transforming power of God’s grace.

In the first reading, Paul speaks to Timothy with deep gratitude. He acknowledges his own weaknesses, reminding us that he was once a sinner, yet God’s grace was abundant. Through faith and love in Christ Jesus, Paul was called to serve, not by his merit, but by God’s mercy. This teaches us that transformation begins with recognizing our dependence on God, allowing His grace to shape our hearts and guide our actions.

The Gospel presents Jesus teaching about perception and judgment. He warns us about the dangers of hypocrisy: noticing a speck in another’s eye while ignoring the plank in our own. True insight begins with self-examination and humility. Only when we allow Christ to cleanse and guide our own hearts can we help others with patience and compassion.

Dear friends, spiritual growth starts with humility and openness to God’s grace. We cannot lead, correct, or guide others effectively if we are blind to our own faults. But when God’s mercy transforms us, our words and actions become instruments of encouragement, healing, and love.

Let us ask ourselves: Do I rely on God’s grace to see clearly in my own life? Am I humble enough to allow Him to correct and guide me before pointing out the faults of others? May the Lord strengthen us in humility, fill us with His grace, and enable us to serve others with compassion, wisdom, and integrity.
